Reality

What was that jingle we sang as we thought we were being cute and sexy? “I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, and never, ever let you forget you’re a man! ‘Cuz I’m a woman!”

Well – you know what? I am a woman, and I can do all that and more. However, sorry to burst your bubble, but I’m not in the least bit interested in whether or not you feel like a man because I’m frying up your bacon.

I’m frying up my own bacon, thank you very much. And don't expect me to look like a barbie doll doing it. I've earned these bags. I've earned every wrinkle that seems to be teasing me with its presence this past year. This is the hard reality of me after pulling myself back up by my own bootstraps. I'm tired. I'm exhausted, really. But I have my life back. I have my independence back.

I thought he killed my spirit forever, but I found out that I'm stronger than that. 'Cuz I'm a woman! ;-)

Hear me roar!!! You are awesome Christie!!! And GORGEOUS!!! And wrinkles - where??? So glad you feel so awesome!
P.S. there are men out there that view our "flaws" as our trophies. Hope if you want to, you find one, and if you don't want/need a partner? I hope you're equally happy and content.
Cheers!

I'm a W-O-MAN, I'll say it again!

I love your writing and point of view and your fabulous photos that skewr our cultures idea of "woman".

Please keep it up.

You are a beautiful person. Not a woman, not a man. Eventually time takes away many of those hormonal differences and what are we left with? What will we be remembered for? How cute we looked in a pencil skirt or the good deeds we did and the love that we gave?
Beauty is as beauty does. Real beauty is seen in the eyes of a caring person who can open their hearts and minds to the rest of the world because they already love and accept themselves.
