Fired Up
A friend of mine recently told me that when he first saw me present my work, he thought to himself, "Man, this girl could kick some ass!" Comments like these are always humorous to me because I don't see myself like that AT ALL!
However, I do secretly smile at the thought of being intimidating. Not because I want to be a bitch, but because it means I'm no longer that empty shell from four years ago.
Incidently, I joined the gym down the street (more on that another day). It's been a long time since I've lifted weights. But let me tell ya, after an hour of pumping iron, this girl feels like she could kick some ass! ;-)

Lifting, working out, does that doesn't it? Water workouts, swimming; trotting along a trail as fast as I can go, out of breath but pushing for the hill. I solve all my problems then, high on endorphins. When I first started working out the high would be only for a few minutes mid-workout. At peak fitness it lasts for hours. And you know for me, everything fell into perspective. Nothing mattered but being fit, being ABLE to do what I needed to do which was, enjoy life. When you are weak, disabled, or just plain out of shape, the daily things exhaust you and defeat you and then you get down, even worse than before. Working out is such a balm and no-one has to write us a prescription for it.
p.s. I don't gym anymore. I use free weights, parks and trails. Soon I'll get back into the pool. A great book "The Waterpower Workout".
That friend sounds like they believe in you and your endeavors. He or she is lucky to have you in their life. Over the past months I have had the privledge to know you better...to which I would say the same thing. You kick ass. You just need to believe in yourself.
Christie - you are so not an empty shell.
:)
your "friend" who made the "kick-ass" comment, is only flirting with you. Same goes for the "russell" fellow.
I am not going to start a comment war with someone who remains "anonymous". Take my words of encouragement how ever you want.
A girl told me , after that we had become friend, that she consider myself and my friends to be intimidating before me became friend. I only think it's the person perception that make us intimidating to them or not.
OOOooOoOooo Flirting! No-one flirts on my blog, that's not fair!!!!
I just surfed on into this blog,Keep up the great work :o)
