Timeline
This is a book that I created for a photography class. If I ever have time to learn flash, I'll add it to the website properly.
This is not my story. This is about the fairytales that young girls create for themselves, often citing their planned timeline that usually revolves around marriage.
Edit: This is not meant to say that all women who marry will end up as ragged housewives or that women cannot live out their dreams. It's just a commentary about young girls who create fantasy timelines without ever developing their own selves first.

That is so profoundly sad for some reason.
Sad, indeed. While I generally enjoy your work, I think you sell women short, particularly with this piece.
I think the point was that some women grew up in an environment that taught them to sell themselves woefully short, and that is terribly sad.
I really like the photos actually, but I have to say I think they work better on their own. The way the photos are shot speaks volumes about what the picture is about. I think the 'timeline' is forced. If you didn't have the captions - it would still work incredibly well. In fact I did see the photos in your album before, and I found them to be very revealing on their own.
My suggestion would be to get rid of the captions and just call your piece timeline, it's more nuanced and less forced that way.
Funny you mention that. I added the text for the assignment, but I felt forced to do it. I found myself trying to conjure up sentences.
You're right, and that's how I wanted it in the first place, so I'm removing the text.
Thanks Aradhana! And I got your message about Toronto. I'll definitely submit!
Yes. Volumes spoken to me, too.
And, from a purely arty perspective, the sepia tint was inspired :)
Yes, Christi - without the text is def much better! You have a wonderful way of capturing an expression (both with your camera and with your face).
I love the marriage photo, the one where you are leaving from the door, and also just the shot of you glancing to the side. I find this way - it's hard to determine if you are 'content' in your relationship or not. Whether you are looking to leave, whether you've found someone else - whatever - it's more openended.... of course I've got my own interpretation! LOL
Good luck with the contact festival - I really hope you submit your work. If it's accepted let me know - I will go check it out for sure!
I love these pictures :)
Me too! I always love your photos - they're amazing. You say so much!
so relevant! i was just thinking about this yesterday! i was trying to make up my mind as to whether i'd rather marry soon and take life the easy way, and live happily ever after,
or
work work work, study my a** off,
or
a bit of both?
or...or..
i am lucky, i suppose, to have
so many options
but just one life :(
p.s. is that ur actual wedding pic?
Thanks everyone.
Yes - that is my actual wedding picture. I couldn't recreate that one because I can't fit into that dress! lol
